O'Reilly reiterates concerns about FoI exemptions
The Information Commissioner has reiterated her concern about the number of public bodies that are excluded from Freedom of Information measures.
Emily O'Reilly has criticised the exemptions on numerous occasions since taking up the job.
Launching her latest annual report today, she said Ireland was out of line with other developed countries by not including the Gardaí in the legislation
She is also criticising the Department of Justice for being uncooperative and the Civil Service for taking a restrictive approach to providing access to information.
Elsewhere, Ms O'Reilly says the €150 fee for appeals against FoI refusals is reducing the number of decisions that are being challenged.
