Taoiseach buoyant after election results

The outgoing Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is pledging to serve a full term in office if he is returned to the job for another five years.

Mr Ahern is almost certain to be back in power after Fianna Fáil's dominance of the General Election, with the party set to win around 78 seats.
