Goliath Dáil task is possible, says FF rebel Dave
Independent candidate Dave McCarthy is talking up his chances in the run-up to polling day.
The northside city councillor — who quit Fianna Fáil to run as an Independent in Cork North Central — maintains he is poised for a victory that would constitute one of the biggest upsets of the general election.
“There are some people out there saying I’m going to get around 2,000 votes,” he said.
“That’s not how we see it — we’re going to be getting a seat,” said Cllr McCarthy.
The former Fianna Fáil man maintained he is getting a very positive reception in county areas, and that his efforts have been aided by more than 100 volunteers joining his canvass.
