Marchers to demand state-funded ABA schools

Several hundred people are expected to take part in a protest march in Dublin today calling for improvements in education for autistic children.

The march has been arranged by Irish Autism Action to demand state-funded ABA schools for children.

ABA is recognised by many as the best form of education for autistic children, but the Government has vigorously defended court actions from parents demanding that the State provide such education to their children.

Today's demonstrators, who will include former Boyzone star Keith Duffy, want the Government to fund more ABA schools and give permanent recognition to the 12 which are currently being run on a pilot basis.
