Business group hits out at 'gagging' of election ads

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce has hit out at a decision by the Broadcasting Commission to ban its general election ads.

The business group was hoping to run advertisements in the capital urging people to consider Dublin's infrastructural deficit when casting their vote on May 24.

However, the BCI ruled that the ads were political, which breaches the commission's regulations.

The DCC has responded by claiming it is being gagged by "a creeping bureaucracy preaching political correctness".
