Jury findings to be challenged in baby death case
A High Court case is expected to challenge the findings of an inquest jury, which found that a baby girl who was discovered murdered in a laneway in Co Dublin more than 30 years ago was Cynthia Owen's daughter.
Ms Owen claimed the baby had been conceived as a result of abuse in the family home.
Members of Cynthia Owens family are seeking judicial review proceedings to overturn the jury's verdict in February, which stated the baby was born to Ms Owen after she was sexually abused in the family home.
The jury found the baby had died as a result of stab wounds, but recorded an open verdict on her death.
Dublin County Coroner Kieran Geraghty had told the jury they could not bring back an unlawful killing verdict, as it was outside the remit of an inquest to implicate people in criminal activity.
