RTÉ settle Leech libel action

The libel action by former government advisor Monica Leech against RTÉ has been settled at the High Court.

The action centred on comments made by a caller on the Joe Duffy Liveline show on December 16 2004. They were made during a discussion about Ms Leech's business relationship with the Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen

The case was due to get underway this afternoon, but after talks between the parties her lawyers told the judge a settlement had been reached.

RTÉ agreed to pay Ms. Leech a sum in damages as well as her legal costs.
