Gardaí treating fatal Clonmel house fire as suspicious

Gardaí are treating the Co Tipperary house fire in which a woman lost her life this morning as suspicious.

A woman in her 50s died in the fire at Elm Park in Clonmel.

The alarm was raised by a neighbour just after 5.30am. The fire brigade attended the scene, but efforts to save the woman failed.

The dead woman's husband managed to escape the blaze by jumping out a window.

The scene has been sealed off and the State Pathologist has been contacted.

A car in front of the house was destroyed in the blaze and a number of other fires were also reported in area.
