Expert criticises shortfalls in National Drugs Strategy
An expert on teenage addiction has described the Government's National Drugs Strategy as a list of aspirations that offers no real solutions to addiction problems.
Geraldine Ring, who runs a centre for teenagers with alcohol and drug problems, says the strategy contains worthwhile ideas, but is not helping to deliver services on the ground.
Speaking as part of Cork Drugs Awareness Week, she said there were major shortfalls in the document that need to be addressed if real progress is to be made in tackling addiction.
