Online poll finds less than half support nurses' action

Less than half of all respondents to a new opinion poll say they support the industrial action being taken by nurses in pursuit of better pay and conditions.

43% of respondents to the online poll by the Irish Medical News said they supported the nurses, who mounted further one-hour stoppages in selected hospitals earlier today.

The findings of the Irish Medical News poll are in stark contrast to a similar survey last week by Irishhealth.com in which 79% said they supported the nurses' stance.
