Hospital doctors resume talks with HSE

Hospital consultants are resuming talks with the Health Service Executive today over contentious new contracts.

The lengthy negotiations have been ongoing for some time without any sign of agreement on the Government's plans to restrict private practice rights for public doctors.

Minister for Health Mary Harney is vowing to advertise 50 new consultant posts on Thursday regardless of whether any agreement is reached.
