Motorists urged to drive carefully in fog-affected areas

Motorists in the midlands are being urged to drive carefully this morning, with heavy fog reported in many areas.

The AA says early-morning fog in Donegal, Leitrim and Longford is beginning to lift.

However, dense fog continues to affect the N6 in Westmeath, Galway, Meath and Offaly, as well as the M7 around Monasterevin.

Motorists in affected areas are being advised to drive slowly and keep their dipped headlights on at all times.
