More than one-fifth of drivers have penalty points on licence

More than one-fifth of Irish motorists currently have penalty points on their licence, according to the latest official figures.

The figures show the majority have only picked up the minimum two points, but 80 people are currently suspended from driving after notching up 12 points over the space of three years.
