INO to hold further talks on new Cork maternity hospital
The opening of Cork's new maternity hospital remains in doubt this morning as nurses and midwives continue to consider their stance on staffing levels.
The €75m facility was due to open last Saturday, but this was postponed for a week when members of the Irish Nurses Organisation refused to co-operate.
The organisation says the staff levels planned by the HSE are not enough to ensure patient safety.
Nurses and midwives met last night to discuss the HSE's latest proposals to resolve the stand-off and the talks continued into the early hours.
However, no decision was taken and further discussions are expected this evening.
