Pile-up on N3 amid fog-affected roads

Motorists in the east of the country are being urged to drive carefully today, with heavy fog affecting roads in many areas.

Yesterday, dozens of vehicles were involved in a string of pile-ups during foggy conditions on the M7 in Co Kildare, causing traffic chaos for much of the day.

Another pile-up happened on the N3 at Dalgan Park in Co Meath today, but there are no reports of any serious injuries and the road has since been cleared.

Heavy fog is also being reported elsewhere in the east of the country, with motorists urged to drive slowly and keep their hazard lights on.

AA Roadwatch says the worst affected areas are the M7 at Naas, the N3 from Monaghan to Meath, the M50 in Lucan, the N1 to Newry and the A1 on to Belfast.
