Gerry Adams 'disappointed' with outcome of DUP meeting
The Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has said he is disappointed with the outcome of a DUP meeting calling for a six-week delay in power-sharing.
Mr Adams said the Northern Secretary Peter Hain must stick to the commitments made and that the DUP must talk to Sinn Féin.
“If the DUP wants a functioning Assembly after March 26, this can only happen through direct dialogue and agreement with Sinn Féin and the other parties,” he said.
If not, he said, the two governments should press ahead with plan B, referred to earlier today by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern.
The proposed arrangement will see Dublin having a greater say in the running of the North in conjunction with the British government.
