FG stamp duty proposals would be catastrophic: Cowen

The Minister for Finance has said that Fine Gael's proposals on stamp duty could have a major detrimental impact on the construction sector.

He believes the idea would encourage prospective buyers to hold off jumping on the property ladder for as long as possible, and that such a scenario would be catastrophic for the economy.
