Mr K misses court date

One of the men accused of unlawful carnal knowledge until the Supreme Court knocked down the legislation in the "C-case" missed a recent court date because he was fishing in Wicklow and his car broke down.

A bench warrant for his arrest had been issued by Judge Katherine Delahunt on March 2 last when the man, who can only be referred to as "Mr K", failed to appear before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for arraignment on new charges of sexual assault.

Garda Carol Flemming told Mr Sean Gillane BL, prosecuting, that she met "Mr K" by arrangement to execute the warrant and she had no objection to the court reinstating his bail.

Ms Marie Torrens BL, defending, told Judge Delahunt that "Mr K" had been fishing in Wicklow the day before he was due in court but he couldn't make it back to Dublin because his car broke down.

Ms Torrens said he wished to take a trial date and Judge Delahunt set a date for next January after "Mr K" re-entered into his bail bond.
