Parties to spend €10m on election campaigns

Ireland's main political parties are expected to spend almost €10m between them during their official election campaigns this year.

In 2002, the parties spent around €7m chasing votes, but the Government has approved a 20% increase in spending limits this year, meaning the forthcoming election is set to be the most expensive in history.
