Transfer of Church property fails to meet abuse compensation bill

The transfer of properties from the Catholic Church to the State to cover the cost of compensation of abuse victims has fallen well short of the €1.2bn that has been paid out to date.

The State agreed to accept properties worth up to €80m five years ago to cover the cost of compensation.
