New group demands education be made an election issue
Parents, teachers and school managers have joined forces to launch a new campaign to make education an election issue.
The Partners in Education for Change group says the Irish second-level system is chronically under-funded and the Government is doing nothing to address the situation.
It says secondary schools have been completely neglected, with overcrowding and a lack of special needs facilities among the main problems.
PEC wants voters and politicians to ensure that these problems are on the agenda in this year's general election campaign.
