Man and woman die in fire at house in Dublin's Cabra area

A man and a woman have died in an overnight fire at a house in the Cabra area of Dublin.

Four units of the fire brigade were despatched to tackle the blaze on Ellesmere Avenue, which broke out at around 10pm.

A man and woman were later removed from the building, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man died a short time later at the Mater Hospital.

The Gardaí have launched an investigation and the scene has been sealed off pending technical examination later today.
