Man arrested over fatal stabbing in Dublin

Gardaí have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a teenager in south Dublin.

The incident happened on Bremen Road in Irishtown in the early hours of this morning.

The emergency services were called to the scene and the victim - also aged 19 - was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A man was arrested shortly after the incident, and is being detained at Donnybrook Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He can be questioned for up to twelve hours.

A post mortem examination will be carried out later on the victim's body along with a full examination of the scene.
