Four men arrested in operation against drug smugglers

Gardaí have arrested four men as part of an international investigation into the smuggling of drugs into Ireland.

The investigation involves the Gardaí, the Revenue Commissioners and police in Belgium and Britain, but few other details have been disclosed.

Two Irishmen in their 20s are being held in Clondalkin, while two Englishmen in their 40s and 50s are being detained in Ronanstown and Naas.

Gardaí have confirmed that drugs have been seized, but it is unclear what quantity was involved and where they were found.

Reports this morning say the drugs were cannabis and cocaine and were worth up to €5m.
