Detectives investigating a gun and grenade attack on a house in Limerick believe it was linked to a gangland feud in the city, it was confirmed today.

In the latest incident connected to the bloody row between rival factions shots were fired through the front window of a house in the Southill area last night.

A grenade was also thrown at the house around 9.50pm but it exploded in the garden causing some shrapnel damage.

The sole occupant of the house at the time escaped uninjured.
