Man, 30s, arrested as Revenue officers seize €1.2m worth of cocaine at Cork Airport

Approximately €1.2m worth of cocaine has been seized by Revenue officers at Cork Airport.

As a result of routine profiling operations, Revenue officers at Cork Airport seized approximately 12kg of cocaine on Monday.

The cocaine has an estimated value of more than €1.2m.

The illicit drugs were discovered concealed in packages within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight originating from Faro, Portugal.

One man, aged in his 30s, was subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a garda station in Cork.

This seizure comes as part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale, and supply of illegal drugs.

A spokesperson for Revenue said investigations into the seizure are ongoing.
