Taoiseach launches child-intervention project

The Taoiseach and the Minister for Children are launching a €36m intervention project for children living in areas of severe disadvantage.

The Taoiseach and the Minister for Children are launching a €36m intervention project for children living in areas of severe disadvantage.

The initiatives will be aimed at Tallaght, Ballymun and the Northside communities of Belcamp, Darndale and Moatview in Dublin.

Minister for Children Brian Lenihan says the schemes will help children overcome obstacles in their education and in the community.

The projects will be monitored for the next five years and if successful will be rolled out on a national basis.
