One in three primary teachers not up to scratch - report

A new report by the Department of Education has found that as many as 500 final year student teachers show "significant weaknesses" in their teaching skills. The Department's report highlights serious deficiencies within the education system.

It found that up to 70 out of 14 hundred final year student teachers were described as ineffective.
