Cork man killed in road crash in the USA

A 29-year-old Cork man has been killed in a crash in the United States.

Diarmuid O'Brien from Newmarket was killed when the car he was driving was involved in a head-on collision outside Washington DC.

The accident happened early yesterday morning when a jeep crossed lanes and hit Mr O'Brien's car.

The dead man had been living in Washington for six months and was due to come home within a fortnight to attend a friend's wedding.

His body will be flown home to North Cork for burial in the next few days.
