The number of new cancer cases being diagnosed in Ireland is reportedly surging well ahead of the European average for some of the most common forms of the disease.

Reports this morning say figures compiled by the International Agency for Research on Cancer show that the number of new prostate cancer cases in Irish men was twice the European average.
