Car found in 'tiger robbery' probe

Gardaí investigating last week’s “tiger robbery” in north Dublin have located the car belonging to the kidnapped family.

The green Ford Focus hatchback was located in Slane, Co Meath.

Gardaí believe that the vehicle, registration number 99 D 9014, was used by gang members during the crime and appealed for information about its whereabouts between Thursday and today.

Gardaí had earlier asked landowners in the north-east to check their properties for the vehicle.

A total of 11 people are in custody as part of the Garda investigation into the crime at the Bank of Ireland branch in Balbriggan.

The latest arrests came yesterday evening when two men, aged 24 and 30, were detained under section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act 1939 at Bailieboro Garda Station.

A bank official, his wife and two sons were kidnapped during the robbery, which is believed to have yielded €500,000.

The money has not yet been recovered.
