Gardaí investigate latest Dublin shooting

Gardaí are continuing their investigations into the killing of Thomas McDonagh, who was gunned down outside his home in Clondalkin on Friday night.

They have yet to establish a motive for the shooting dead of the young father of one.

Thomas McDonagh's murder was the second fatal shooting in West Dublin this year, and so far, Gardaí haven't ruled out a link between the two.

Thomas McDonagh died on Friday night after being shot by a lone gunman while standing at the rear of his car outside his house on St Mark's Crescent, Clondalkin.

The gunman fled on foot.

His death comes a little over a week after 22-year-old Damien Dowdall was shot dead in the Lealand Estate, also in Clondalkin.

Gardaí are keeping an open mind on both killings.

The shootings are likely to strengthen calls from opposition parties for the Government to take a tougher stance on gun crime.
