Harney to press ahead with hiring of new hospital doctors

Minister for Health Mary Harney is vowing to press ahead with the recruitment of new hospital consultants despite an ongoing stalemate over her plans to renegotiate the contracts of existing doctors.

Yesterday, the chairman of talks between the health service and consultants said no progress had been achieved during more than a year of discussions on the matter.
