Govt promises to examine any new trawler safety proposals
The Government is promising that all new safety recommendations will be given full consideration in an effort to prevent future fishing tragedies at sea.
The vow comes as the search continues for seven trawlermen missing after two sinkings off the south-east coast last week.
Junior Transport Minister Pat 'the Cope' Gallagher says safety on fishing vessels is reviewed on a regular basis and any new recommendations made in light of the latest tragedies will be closely examined.
