An investigation was launched today into the death of two people in a blaze at an Irish Army camp.

An investigation was launched today into the death of two people in a blaze at an Irish Army camp.

The victims, believed to be a man and a woman in their 20s, were found in an upstairs bedroom of a house just before 3am today at the Curragh Camp in Kildare.

Three fire appliances from Naas, Newbridge and the army base itself were called to the scene at McMurrough Hill in the camp.

A Garda Press Office spokesman said both victims were civilians.

Gardaí from Newbridge are investigating and the scene has been sealed off for examination.
