Gardaí have named the 54-year-old pedestrian who died after being hit by a car in Co Wicklow early this morning.

Gardaí have named the 54-year-old pedestrian who died after being hit by a car in Co Wicklow early this morning.

Oliver O' Toole, from Shankill in Dublin, was knocked down while walking on the N11 at Scratnagh near Arklow just before 3.30am.

His death brings to 365 the number of people killed on Ireland's roads this year.
