Bid to break record for largest carol service

Thousands of people will gather in Kilkenny today to attempt to break the record of the largest number of people to sing in a carol service.

A number of well-known sports stars, singers and other personalities are expected to attend the event, which is being held in Nowlan Park.

Funds raised will be donated to local charities.

Organiser Mags Murphy said they need 7.500 people to break the record.

“We've special guests coming along, we've commemorative certs for people to take away and all the songs that they'll be singing on the day. We've to sing for at least 15 minutes,” she said.
