Investigation underway into baby deaths at Derry hospital

The authorities in the North are investigating the sudden deaths of four newborn babies at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.

The hospital confirmed today that it had referred the cases to a coroner in September, but no further details have been provided.

Altnagelvin says it is co-operating fully with the inquiry and it would be inappropriate to make any further statements on the matter pending the completion of investigations.
