Harney: Medical Council hearings should be public

Minister for Health Mary Harney has said she would like to see future hearings by the Irish Medical Council to be held in public.

The remarks follow the council's decision to bar the Patient Focus group from attending an inquiry into three consultants who cleared Dr Michael Neary of wrongdoing during a peer review in the late 1990s.
