A controversial film about an Irish paedophile could be in the running for an Oscar at next year's Academy Awards.

The documentary featuring ex-priest Oliver O'Grady is one of 15 on a nominations shortlist.

Deliver Us from Evil includes footage of the 60-year-old Limerick man showing no remorse for abusing 25 children in California.

One scene shows him watching young children in Dublin's Merrion Square and at an unidentified school.

The film is up against Al Gore's climate change movie, An Inconvenient Truth, among others.
