Poverty risk among elderly people fell sharply last year

The proportion of elderly people at risk of poverty has fallen significantly in recent years, according to CSO figures out today.

The Central Statistics Office says 20% of people over the age of 65 were at risk of poverty in 2005, compared to 27% the previous year.
