The Director of Public Prosecutions has reportedly called on judges to do more to explain the reasons behind the sentences they impose.

Reports this morning say James Hamilton made a rare public comment yesterday saying the sentencing process can often be bewildering for members of the public, with different penalties often handed down for similar crimes.
