Government to launch campaign on national emergency plans
A major information campaign is to get underway after Christmas to inform the public what needs to be done in the event of a national emergency.
The Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis in Citywest Dublin has been told that contrary to common belief, the Government does have a plan if such incidents occur.
Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea said the information campaign “will consist of a booklet in simple language (distributed) to every home in the country. The campaign will be backed by advertising on TV and in the print media.
It will involve people going around to schools to explain it at school level, but it will also involve media access to the actual exercises on the ground.
