Moynihan-Cronin to run for Labour in Kerry South
Kerry South TD Breeda Moynihan-Cronin is to run for the Labour Party in the next general election.
She has played a strong role in politics in the area, taking over her father Michael’s mandate in the constituency and holding the seat for the last 15 years. Her father was first elected in 1981.
The deputy was understood to be withdrawing from politics due to ill health but has made a full recovery and will seek the party nomination at an upcoming selection convention. There are no other serious contenders for the candidacy.
Party leader Pat Rabbitte has welcomed the announcement, describing it as a tremendous boost for the party locally and nationally.
