Private security regulatory body secures first prosecution

Kevin Hannon, trading as “Non stop security”, has been fined €2,000 at Newport District Court in Limerick.

Costs of €1,200 have been awarded.

The defendant was found to be in breach of the private security services act.

Since April of this year it's been mandatory for doormen and security guards to be licensed.

Chief executive of the Private Security Authority Geraldine Larkin has welcomed today's judgement saying enforcement is one of the key strategies of the authority.
