Cars carrying fireworks will be impounded

The Tánaiste and Justice Minister Michael McDowell has warned people planning to purchase fireworks in the North that they may have their cars impounded.

Mr McDowell told the Dáil this morning that customs officers would impound vehicles found to be carrying bangers or fireworks.

He also warned that anyone caught illegally importing such items would face criminal prosecution.
