Ulster Unionist leader Reg Empey has challenged his DUP counterpart to publish the written promises he claims to have received from the British government in relation to Sinn Féin's support for policing.

Dr Paisley claimed yesterday that he had received written assurances that Martin McGuinness would have to pledge support for the PSNI and the rule of law if he is nominated as Deputy First Minister before the November 24 devolution deadline.
