Man hit with gun in house raid

A man was hit over the head with a gun during a robbery at his home, police said today.

The victim’s wife and two daughters were at the house in Sion Mills, Co Tyrone, when thieves pounced as the man returned to the property at around 11pm last night.

The three masked men stole cash, two walkie-talkie radios and two mobile phones.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said: “The householder was approached by the masked men as he was returning home last night at around 11pm. The men escorted him to his house, where his daughter answered the door.

“Two of the men took him into the kitchen of the house and threatened him with a gun, while the third stayed in the living room with the householder’s wife and two daughters. The householder was hit over the head with the gun.”
