House of Tomorrow announcement today
The number of Irish homeowners who signed up for a new energy-efficiency scheme will be announced today.
Minister for Natural Resources Noel Dempsey will reveal the number of successful applications for the House of Tomorrow initiative run by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI).
The programme was established in 2001 to promote efficient use of energy in of Irish homes.
Mr Dempsey will also announce the level of funding administered under the Programme and the number of houses where energy efficiency improvements have been made.
The Government yesterday launched a Green Paper on energy which aims to reduce Ireland’s near-total dependency on fossil fuels by 2020.
The launch of the policy document coincided with a 34% increase in domestic and commercial gas prices.
