McDowell takes on Tánaiste mantle

The Minister for Justice Michael McDowell was today officially appointed as Tánaiste.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern signed the necessary statutory instrument to establish his new deputy at Government Buildings before the weekly Cabinet meeting.
